Hello World!
May God Bless Everyone who views my first post!
I love to write and hopefully by doing it consistently on-line, I'll improve. Like many of you, I'm so busy and sometimes I have to wonder whether the quality of our lives is really improving. We can access a wealth of information by just logging onto the Internet. However, is the information we're reading an accurate account of what's really going on in "The Real World". Do we really take the time to verify its' validity? I suspect not.
Experience has taught me not to take everything at "face value". The powers that control influential media sources have their own agendas. Sometimes, when I read articles, regardless of the source, I have to wonder whether I'm getting a well rounded account or somebody's overly biased account. Everyone wants to play the role of "an expert". I'm not trying to play that role. I find that to be one of the most aggravating traits of too many people who express their opinions on-line.
I'm a middle aged, African American woman. Some of the comments made on-line about African Americans as a whole are really racist. It's no secret that our community has its' issues but "all communities and ethnic groups have their issues". Welcome to The Real World! The Real World consists of a multitude of day-to-day hassles that we all have to confront. Racial bias has been consistently documented and not all "people of color" have developed effective, non destructive mechanisms to cope with it. Many of my people are stressed, oppressed and depressed. Until you've walked a mile in any minority's shoes--don't judge! Some people can dish it out, but they can't take it! We're human beings--not animals! People make mistakes. It's all part of "Living In The Real World".
If all goes well, I would like to discuss possible coping strategies. Anyone who has any "constructive" insights, please email them to bella@sistahselah.com.
Peace Be With You!!!
